Living in Contra Costa County: April 2009

Living in Brentwood – Brentwood Parks – Blue Goose Park

Blue Goose Park is an exciting new park in Brentwood. It is an excellent place for toddlers to pre-teens and families. Blue Goose Park is on the corner or O’Hara and Adams. The park has a farm theme.

This is a very large park with a large grassy area good for playing games, flying a kite, or a nice picnic. Then of course there are the mandatory play structures which every kid wants. This park has two play structures for general climbing and sliding; one for older kids and one for younger kids, although my 20 month old son enjoyed the older kids one just fine.

There is more, the park has a giant spider web of climbing ropes that is becoming popular in the newer parks. There is a man made rock so the aspiring rock climber can hone his skills. For those of us who remember simpler times there is an old fashioned see-saw and a number of the spring mounted riders.

This park will be at its best on the hot summer days that are coming. In the center of the play area are a number of metal structures that are not for climbing or playing on but seem to be large sprinkles to cool the kids off.

The Big Structure!

There are picnic benches to eat at and park benches to sit on while the kids play. Some of the picnic benches are built in a shaded shelter for those hot days.

Small Structure & Picnic Area

My five boys ages 20 months to 12 years loved this park. I am sure your kids will too.
