Kodak has issued the challenge to us to let them know what we would do with $220.00 in Savings we could obtain by using their ink jet printers.
I really want to do something that will make a long term impact. There are so many needs and I could not possibly meet all of them. Some of these needs are so big that $220.00 would hardly seem a drop in the bucket.
Here is what I would do. I would find 7 people and give them $30.00 each with a task for that $30.00. With that $30.00 I would have them do something kind for 3 people at about $10.00 each. They could do something kind for a spouse, a parent, teacher, coach, Scout leader, Pastor, or someone else in their life that needs a kindness.
The kindness would have to be unexpected and for no particular reason. The kindness needs to come with a letter expressing appreciation for that person. The kindness could be an inexpensive meal, coffee, taking them a meal at home, a picture in a frame, a few flowers, or some other kindness. It is important that the gift be nice and personal, but the gift is to be small so it does not overwhelm the true gratitude and feelings towards the recipient.
The act of kindness is something that will last forever for the one giving and the one receiving. I suspect the one that gives will learn far more than the one that gets. Our kind acts and kind words can have an impact that last forever in the lives of others, and even beyond as kindness encourage more kindness.
At this point some of you are saying, "That is only $210.00, what about the rest?"
I reserve that for an act of Kindness of my own. I will spend it on my wife. She is the love of my life, who has given me nothing but joy. She has loved me when I did not deserve to be loved and lifted me up at all the down moments of my life. She does not ask for much or expect much.
With $10.00 I would get her a nice cup of coffee (because she keeps me going), a single flower or two (because she is beautiful), and with the rest some carmels (because she is sweet).
With $220.00 in savings I would impact that lives of 30 people, some forever, by building relationships, teaching people to show kindness, and reminding those that need a kindness that they are appreciated. However, in learning those things far more than 30 people will be impacted.
