Do you ask or answer questions on Trulia? I do and I think it is a great way to meet clients. They ask some good generally questions about pricing in certain areas, investment questions, and procedure questions about real estate.
However, I often see the question that starts out, "We are in Contract on . . ." or "My Agent Told me . . . ." You get the idea. They want me to second guess their agent or they simply do not trust their agent. I see lots of questions were it is readily apparent that they are already working with some one. I won't touch those.
I also see very specific legal questions or questions that if we were to answer might get us in trouble with the DRE. I would not answer the vague question of "Is this a nice area for kids?' I would answer if they asked what sort of activities they had for young people or the locations of the schools or what type of programs the schools have. They can ask me if there are 4 bedroom homes in an area, but I cannot answer if an area is for families. They can even ask me about what percentage of homes might have 4 or more bedrooms or are over a certain size.
I understand that sometimes these questions are asked from pure and honest motives. However, I can get in trouble for answering them; especially some if they might indicate discrimination against single people or non traditional families. Also subjective questions can get us into trouble.
If you ask me how I feel about things in my community I can tell you. I think Brentwood California is a great place to live. The Schools have been great for my kids. We love the fact that there are so many parks for the kids to play in. We think there are a lot of youth sports our kids have benefited from. Those are clearly my opinions and how they relate to my family. This has been a great community for my family. It might be for yours too, but that is a subjective issue - You should look at the community and decide for yourself.
