I try not to make predictions as there are too many variables and I do not want to look like a fool.
When the housing prices were running up and they were gradually becoming less and less affordable I thought we might hit a wave of inflation as I knew housing was eating up too much of peoples income. I also understood many of the loans would either have to be refinanced at higher payment rates or would adjust upward at some point in the future. I figured we would inflate our way out of the crises.
I was wrong. The housing market crashed. prices of houses have dropped by about half, and people are having trouble borrowing. I don't need to belabor the point, everyone understands what is happening.
But maybe I was not wrong! I reblogged at great little video on the Quantitative Easying (Printing Money). If there is one sure thing it appears inflation is on the way. With inflation housing prices should start to shoot up again. The value of your money will go down. Interest rates will probably climb.
All of those factors make this one of the best times in history to buy real estate, either as an investor or as a place to live, especially if you can pay cash or lock into a long term low interest loan.
