San Francisco's Treasure Island Pirates Game June 23, 2012

Treasure Island is the man made island in the middle of San Francisco Bay that connects to Yerba Buena Island – which the Bay Bridge runs through. It used to be a naval base. However, now it is being cleaned up and is some housing and businesses. One business out there is a baseball training facility for young players.

The Travel Team name they play under is the Pirates. There are a number of different Pirate teams for different age groups. My son Corbin is playing on a Soph/Frosh team that is designed for kids going into high school or Freshman moving up. The age range is 13-15 and Corbin is the youngest on the team.

Today they had a game against a 16 and Under team from Union City that was from the local Little League's upper division. They were a lot bigger than us and we got smacked 9-1.

However, Corbin pitched 2 innings and did very well. He is not fast, but he is accurate. This first inning is his best. Two Strike outs and a great play by the Short Stop to go 1-2-3. The next inning he gave a up a triple and then some field errors cost the team some runs. But he walked no one.

I was very proud of him and everyone was amazed by how he handled himself. When he gets bigger I think he will be an impressive pitcher. He has very good form and is left handed.

Sorry if the video is a little wobbly and not everything was in the screen. I did it on my phone while trying to watch the game.
